CSI Unveils Health Station with Integrated Cholesterol and Glucose Testing

Affordable cholesterol and glucose testing available in CSI 9KE Mini Clinic Health Stations at participating pharmacies and corporations

RENO, Nevada – February 14, 2013 – Privately owned medical kiosk manufacturer, Computerized Screening, Inc. (CSI), has rolled out its next generation 9KE enclosed telemedicine kiosk with a fully integrated Alere Cholestech LDX® Analyzer, a CLIA waived lipid testing system. In partnering with the healthcare diagnostics company, Alere Inc. (NYSE: ALR), CSI offers the only medical kiosk that measures cholesterol and glucose.  In addition to screening for blood pressure, weight, blood oxygen, temperature, height and body mass index (BMI), lipid profiling rounds out a full suite of biometric screenings available in a retail, corporate, or clinic-bound health station.

“When the results of these biometric screenings are added up, they can provide a surprisingly accurate profile of risk for heart disease, stroke, high cholesterol, and diabetes – the costliest and most prevalent of all health issues” said Charles Bluth, founder and Chief Executive Officer of CSI. “When individuals know their numbers they can make lifestyle changes that help prevent future chronic illness and disability, resulting in enormous health care cost savings”.

By using the CSI 9KE Mini Clinic Health Station, Cholestech LDX® testing system, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose can be measured simultaneously from a single drop of blood. The easy to use, 3-step procedure uses whole blood samples from a fingerstick obtained by an on onsite administrator who has been provided with onsite training and certification. Lab-accurate results are returned within 5 minutes and populated to the patient’s Personal Health Record (PHR) created at the CSI Health station. The tests performed on the Cholestech LDX® are reimbursable by Medicare and most private payers.  An on-the-spot risk assessment can also be provided by a Telemedicine video consultation with a licensed physician directly from the CSI 9KE Health Station.
